People are dying to go to the Catacombs of Paris

Today is apparently Paris day on the blog. I will add to the mix with one of my favorite offbeat sites in the city.

Deep underneath the boulevards of Paris lies a dark secret.  Over time, Paris’ cemeteries became overcrowded, so old bones were moved into underground tunnels and meticulously stacked.  These catacombs are open to the public, and are a truly surreal experience to visit.  It’s a long walk through dark tunnels with plenty of stairs and uneven terrain, so be prepared.  For more info check out this Wikipedia page.
